The Ego

Mata Yogananda Mahasaya Dharma brings clarity about the necessity of the ego, as we grow from babies through teenage years to adulthood and how changing this energy of the ego, as opposed to getting rid of the ego, can help the individual spirit blend with the universal spirit. Keeping the energies in this changed state allows the individual spirit to achieve its destiny of union with God.

“The ego, having fulfilled the purpose for which it was created, that is to say, the attainment by the spirit of self-awareness, its continued growth becomes detrimental to further spiritual progress. It is precisely this excessive enlargement of the ego, which the higher levels of religious experience show to be an obstacle, barring the way that leads us to the ultimate school of such experience.”
